Turkey Decoy Hunting Tactics

  November is here, and that means that Thanksgiving is almost here. If you are interested in providing your family with a nice gobbler for your dinner table centerpiece then there are a few things that you must know. During the spring or the fall when turkeys are very prevalent, you are most likely going to need to use a whole bunch of turkey hunting decoys to ensure that you attract the attention that you are trying to receive. You are going to need to gather up your own flock. Buying up an entire flock of decoys is not too expensive, but the cost will add up when you begin to buy in bulk. If cost is an issue then you and your hunting friends can each buy a few and let each other borrow them during the hunt. When you are thinking about purchasing a decoy for your turkey hunt, you need to make sure that you are buying it specific to your hunting needs. Using the flock approach for your decoys will not always work, but it is a good safe bet for starters. This type of decoy approach is best suited for people who will be hunting in the open terrain. You should set up the decoys in somewhat of a circle so that the potential centerpiece will want to land right in the middle. If you were using a hunting blind, then I would recommend that you use this setup with a good hunting calls. If you are hunting in an area that is more frequented than most you should use a different hunting tactic with your decoys. If the turkeys see a large grouping of hens near somewhere that is close to an open road, then you can be sure that they will immediately strut the other way. If you set up with only one or two decoys then you can almost be certain of where your arrow placement will need to hit.
