Caution: Always Use a Bow Stringer

Always make sure that you use a bow stringer One of the most overlooked archery accessories is the bow stringer. I don't know, maybe people just do not think that they need one when they are restringing their archery or hunting bow. I cannot tell you how beneficial these inexpensive accessories are. Most of us that have had been using the ol' push and pull method for years are sitting here saying that there is no need for one. I had said that until a few days ago when I was stringing my recurve bow, when it slipped and almost hit my face! I have heard of people who were still wearing their archery finger tabs or a shooting glove when they were trying to unstring their bow without the use of a bow stringer. Well, their hand slipped and almost took out their entire eye ball. Their eye has completely shut so now they can only see out of one eye -- 10 stitches later and I think this person has learned their lesson. The safer method to use would be the strep through method. This at least keeps the bow a little further away from your face, but it still has the potential to do some damage. It keeps the bow pointed the other way, but I still recommended that people use a bow stringer. Accidents CAN happen if you do not use a bow stringer! Many of the archers and bow hunters who have sustained these injuries speak of having irreparable damage done to their eye. Many will never see the same again. You do not want to take any chances hurting your eyes/eye sight, so it is best to just use a bow stringer. No matter how many times you have done this, remember that it takes just one slip. As always make sure that the string is in the proper groove, and always make sure that you use a bow stringer. It's not worth losing your eye.
