Purchasing an archery bow is like buying a car. You have these big plans for what you are going to do once you take it off the lot. You might want to add all of your modifications to make sure that it is best suited for you. The one place where people begin to falter is on the maintenance. At a minimum, any car owner gets the required oil changes, and tire rotation. You should take care of your archery bow in the same manner. Properly maintaining your bow will not only extend the life of your bow, it could also prevent a serious injury from happening.
Simple Archery Bow Maintenance
1. Bow Wax - should be applied after every couple of shooting sessions. Make sure to wax the string and not the serving.

2. Cams and Axles: Should never be oiled. The should be checked every few shooting sessions for wear and tear.
3. Bolts & Screws - You should check all bolts before shooting to ensure that all of your archery bow accessories are secure.
4. Archery Bow Limbs - Always inspect the limbs to ensure that there are no cracks. Running a cotton swab over the limbs can catch hard to find cracks in camo.
5. Storage- Always keep your archery bow in a cool dry place. Keeping it in an archery bow case is optimal.
If you do the proper maintenance on your archery bow, you should get a lifetime of fun out of it. When you first start inspecting your bow, it should only take you under 15 minutes. Once you get familiar with your setup, and how everything is meant to perform you can get all of this maintenance done in under 5 minutes. You do not want to be held back from shooting because you could not invest 5 minutes of your time into your bow.
