Ravin R9 Predator Crossbow: Welcome to the Future

With this amount of revolutionary features, the Ravin R9 crossbow might be the start of something new.

It requires individuals to look at something familiar, and see it in a way nobody has ever seen it before. When Holless Wilbur Allen invented the compound bow for example, he was just looking at the same bow everyone else had. The difference was he had the creativity to see it in a different way. His idea truly changed the face of archery. The new Ravin R9 Predator crossbow may change the way crossbows are designed in the same way. [caption id="attachment_6906" align="alignright" width="150"]Ravin R9 Crossbow Ravin R9 Predator Crossbow[/caption] When looking at the specs of this crossbow one facet that instantly jumps out is the slim profile. This bow registers at 10.5 inches uncocked. That is slimmer than almost any cocked crossbow. When you cock the bow, it draws down to an unbelievable 6 inches from axle to axle. If you are looking for a crossbow you can wiggle into any shooting blind or stand, this is the one you are looking for. Engineers accomplished this feat by developing the Helicoid technology. This technology does not link the cams and allows them to be more independent. The result is a crossbow that can be much narrower than other crossbows. Not only is it small and compact, but at only 7 pounds it is lightweight as well. All told, there is no other crossbow on the market that can even compare to the sleek design of the Ravin R9 predator. Another aspect of the Ravin R9 Predator crossbow that is revolutionary is the rail system. In fact, the revolutionary part is actually the absence of a rail. While most crossbows use a rail system to guide the arrow down the length of the crossbow, the Predator uses an arrow rest in the front of the bow to support the arrows. The rest looks similar to two rests you would find on a recurve bow, both pointed towards each other. This sort of float the arrow at the front end. On the back end of the arrow, the Ravin uses a special knock that actually clips to the string just like a compound arrow. The new design decreases contact with the bow, thus increasing accuracy. The final innovation of this Ravin crossbow that has people talking is the crisp trigger pull. Using a unique design process, the engineers at Ravin were able to take all of the extra travel and weight out of the trigger. This trigger has a crisp 2 pound trigger pull, very similar to that of your favorite hunting rife. Odds are if you are a serious crossbow shooter you won't overlook the implications of a clean trigger pull. At this point we haven't even discussed the performance of the bow. This unique crossbow can easily send 400 grain hunting arrows downrange at speeds of over 390 feet per second. That makes the Ravin R9 Predator one of the fastest crossbows you can lay your hands on. After examining the Raving R9 Predator crossbow you can easily see why it is one of the most coveted crossbows on the market. It incorporates new technology that allows it to be both fast, and extremely accurate. Not only that but the sleek design is something that will get many shooters fired up. All told, the innovations on this crossbow may cause other engineers to completely rethink the way they are designing their bows. Although innovating is difficult, the folks at Ravin crossbows have certainly overcome that difficulty and released a standout crossbow. NEXT: THE TENPOINT RENEGADE; A FAIR DEAL
