Bow Hunting in the Cold: Use your Hunting Cameras Wisely

There are a few things that you should know about hunting bucks in the winter. As soon as the rut is over, these animals will go into survival mode to prepare themselves for the upcoming winter. They need to stock up on the fat reserves for winter. During the cold times these animals will only move when necessary. Bow hunting during these times is not going to be easy, but it will provide you with some shots that you otherwise would not have had. You will have to scout the location and strategically place your hunting spot to get your best shot. Bow hunting camera It should be noted that deer do not like to move around much when the seasons get cold. With that being said, they usually like to position their bedding areas, near their food source. I would suggest that you invest in some hunting cameras so that you can check out multiple locations at a time. You can figure out which areas are getting the most traffic and then proceed on from there. I would check these cameras during and after a storm because you are most likely going to have movement before the storm comes in, and after it has gone. If you check the camera during the storm you can be sure that you wont scare any bucks because they will all be in their shelter. These animals are looking for a shelter that will provide them with security. Having a map to locate areas of heavy brush can help you shorten the possible quality areas where you will put your hunting cameras. If you are fortunate, enough to get a camera that has temperature and various other weather related readings on it can greatly aid you in obtaining that successful kill. Having this type of camera will allow you to pattern out deer movement so that you will know when and where the deer will move through before they do!
